Idiot Neighbor: Status Confirmed

Posted on March 3rd, 2007 in Personal Life by Justin

We had a good ‘ole storm pass through on Friday night which meant plenty of snow.

And about 3 foot drifts in our driveway. I came home before the woman and simply powered the Jeep through the mess, then got to work on it with a shovel so she wouldn’t get stuck.

Today I called up my brother and we grabbed the plow truck to clear the bugger out good and proper. Well, that was the plan.

We got the truck stuck in the driveway fairly early on. Using some plywood scraps I had laying around we got some traction on it and freed it. Attempting to futher clear out the driveway we got it stuck again. This time it wasn’t coming out. So, with a plow truck blocking off 3/4th of my driveway we hopped in the Jeep and slammed through some snow 12″ higher than what the plow truck was stuck in, headed back to the family business (which isn’t running plow trucks) to grab a few 5 gallon buckets of salt.

Upon return we found that that didn’t work either.

About that time a fellow in a grey GMC swings by and asks if we want him to help us out. Well, I’d be a fool to turn down free help at this point. I accept. Turns out he’s the neighbor on the other side of my house, not the one that previously helped me snow-blow the driveway.

Wonderful… so now twice I’ve had neighbors stop by because they figured I was an idiot in a pinch.

At least they’re friendly to the new guy. That’s nice.

After that ordeal I went back inside, sat down to have a drink, and took Chuck Norris out to shit in the front yard. It was then that I saw him start to work on his own driveway. While he’s got a nice big GMC truck to attach a plow onto he uses something else: A friggen front-end loader with an 8 foot wide bucket on it.

Wondered what that thing was for. Guess I know now.

I think I’m going to like my neighbors. Just hope they like me.

I need a friggen tractor. That much has occured to me today.
