I still think this short-sighted legislation opens a big can of worms when it comes to framing someone else for a gun related crime. No need to plant a gun at the scene of the crime anymore … now they can just grab a few shell casings from someone at the local range and drop those at the scene of the crime. False evidence often convicts the innocent … I wonder how many people will go to prison for murder over a shell casing … and how many of those will really be guilty. Anyone planning of committing a crime … that has half a brain (even most idiots) … will not use a gun that stamps serial numbers on the casing to commit a crime. WTF is wrong with California? Get real.
