Today’s Commute

Posted on November 13th, 2007 in Personal Life by Justin

I know I’m kind of spoiled what with having a normal commute consisting of my bedroom to the kitchen, but today took a bit out of me:

5:00am: Get up
6:15am: Arrive in Holland, MI.
7:00am: Everybody is there, carpool over to Antioch, IL.
11:00am: Arrive at Antioch, IL.
2:00pm: Depart from Antioch, IL.
4:15pm: Arrive at Toyota dealership to pick up a Prius.

Okay, that one I have to explain. I’m working with these guys on some software for car dealership service centers. One of the guys works for a Toyota dealership in Muskegon and needed to grab a Prius from Benton Harbor to take to his dealership. So, they let me drive it from Benton Harbor to Holland where the 2nd guy took over for the last leg. I would never buy a Hybrid in today’s market (they cost too much for what they save in gas, and I don’t drive that much these days) but they’re fun to drive. It’s like a video-game where you get points for driving efficiently. It graphs all this shit out in 5 minute intervals as well as gives you a live reading of your fuel efficiency so you know when you’re doing things right. I managed to get 51mpg on the highway and in the last 5 minute leg of city driving I was right near 65mpg.

I got home around 6:30pm.
