Christmas ‘08

We spent the weekend with Theresa’s family. We drove out on Saturday, spent some time with her sister’s family, her parents, and her grand parents, did a little gift exchange, that kinda thing. We took Chuck Norris, the dog, with us too. That was fun.

The kids met Chuck before when they came to stay with us, and they live with a couple of sizable dogs too, but they were a little apprehensive about him last time. It’s a little different when they’re in their own home I guess. The little girl had no problem telling Chuck “No!” this time around when he’d start chasing her. It’s pretty funny watching an 80 pound Black Lab / Evil Demon Pit Bull mix come to a skidding halt when a 40 pound 7 year old girl gave him a forceful “No!”

The boy, age 7, would get down on the floor and play with him. Chuck would wrestle with him, and that was fun. The parents actually wished their dogs would do stuff like that with the kids. Chuck would grab the kid’s hands and arms with his mouth but he didn’t leave a scratch. He didn’t bite, just grabbed.

It’s good to know he can be trusted around kids. No real issues with the other dogs either. Just your typical boundary setting skirmishes.

Family dinner this year will be a little different. On Christmas Eve. we’ve got the traditional Extended Buist family Taco Dinner but my parents won’t be there. They decided to hit up Florida this year for a little personal time before the rates went up. So, Christmas dinner for my immediate family will be at my house. It’ll just be me, my brothers, and Theresa.
