Guitar Hero

So, I bought Guitar Hero III for the Wii a few weeks ago. I’d played with some friends before and it was interesting, but never a game I could see myself setting down in front of to play every couple of nights because it’s too frustrating.

I was wrong at at least one account. It’s horribly frustrating, but I settle down a play it quite frequently.

I’ve finally graduated to the “hard” level of playing and it’s pissing me off to no end. On one in four songs I just get “stuck” and that irks me. Of course, they’re always songs that I don’t know. I just beat one of them after probably 70 tries to be confronted with “Even Flow” by Pearl Jam and sailed right through it on the first try.

Here’s what’s funny: This is just like the old NES games. There’s a lot of timing and memorization going on.

I’ve found that with the Wii I’m addicted to buying the old NES games that I played for hours. Upon playing them I find them frustrating as all get-out. They’re frustrating, time consuming, pedantic little monsters. I can’t stand them for more than 10 minutes at a time. I still like them, but I’m easily frustrated.

Somehow, I can tolerate this out of Guitar Hero.
