Ubuntu 8 (Hardy) in Virtual PC

I’m working on a VPC install of Ubuntu 8 Desktop right now. It’s not exactly straight forward but these instructions should get you through it.

In related news my experience with LAMP might come in handy at work.

Why would you do this? Why not just install Hardy Heron on the machine itself? Then just use VMware for the rest of your virtual machines? I tried using Virtual PC for a Windows 95 machine that runs the environmental controls. It was never that stable, it could only run for a day or two. VMplayer (running the virtual machine generated by a trial version of VMworkstation) runs much better, consumes way fewer resources and only needs to be restarted when the ram leak in the environmental computer causes problems. I dunno, just my two cents.

I just use the VPC stuff for development. I don’t have enough actual iron to do individual installs anymore as I’m up to, I think, 4 various machines.
