I saw this at the local Barnes & Nobel and had a WTF moment. I thought I’d share.

Supporting the local FFLs

Thirdpower is going to start pimping for the local gun shops on his blog.

Good on him. I’ve done that maybe once or twice on here when I ran across a deal that I’d be likely to snatch up myself. In fact, I ran across one earlier today that I was going to post anyway.

Silver Bullet Firearms has listed a Winchester 1300 for $199.98 in their used section. If I was spending money on guns like I used to, I’d have probably been in their shop tonight asking about it.

Welcome to the ‘Real World,’ kid.

Souvenir rifle shell gets 4th-grader suspended

So, a kid attends a Memorial Day service, a vet gives him the empty shell casings from the blanks he fired off that day, takes it to school and gets suspended.

In a situation like this I’d be inclined to refer to the school’s administration and teaching staff that had a hand in this as a bunch of half-wit hysteric morons, but not so much in this case.

It happened in Massachusetts, you see, where you must be licensed in matters pertaining to firearms, just like Illinois, New Jersey, and Cuba.

Sebastian notes that in Massachusetts you can’t possess ammunition components without a license to own a gun. It’s a two year felony. Bruce has also mentioned the criminal nature of possessing an empty shell casing before.

So, good on the school. That kid just got a lesson on the real world: You’re being governed by idiots. I hope he never forgets it.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, Jay G. gives a good run-down on the various licenses you can get in MA. Yes, plural, it’s a tiered system.
