Scaring the Masses
Sebastian linked to this opinion piece by Mark Venderboegh wherein he says:
There are some of us “cold dead hands” types, perhaps 3 percent of gun owners, who would kill anyone who tried to further restrict our God-given liberty.
Uhm, OK. Could we please keep that kind of talk out of the public arena? That kind of talk will freak out about 99% of the population. It makes us all look like this guy:
Except with a gun.
And yes, I’m every bit as guilty as ‘ole Mike on this issue. Been there, done that, and watched the readership of this blog pretty much halve somewhere around 2005.

Really? There’s an audience for that kind of voice. And for the record, I think it’s mostly safe to say stuff like that on your blog. But sending it into a newspaper is rather unproductive.
Journalist gleefully print that kind of thing because they know what most people will think about it, and it’s exactly what they want.
