Practical v. Tactical

On last night’s Gun Nuts Radio show I phoned in and asked Gordon Hutchinson if he’d encountered anybody in his interviews that met up with the CHP or local NOLA PD and actually got to keep their guns, or some of them.

I was hoping for a story of a guy or two that simply handed over a Makarov or 870 while keeping all of their other guns and let the PD venture onto the next house, but that wasn’t what I got.

He did have a good story though. Two roofers, with contracts in the area, and valid carry permits from other states valid in LA, were stopped by NOLA PD, and their guns were taken. They raised enough ruckus, through the proper channels, to have them returned fairly promptly when compared with the treatment that most folks got in that whole mess.

While not optimal, it does lend support to the notion that one should work within the system rather than immediately slinging lead in defense of the United States of Threedom.
