Headed out to Seaway with the gang Saturday morning for out monthly sporting clays outing. It’s been a while since I was able to make one.
It showed.
I shot five stand for the first time in my life. It didn’t go well. I might as well have just run around my back yard shooting a shotgun into the air decked out in my underwear. All I did on that course was make noise and get cold in the process.
Sporting clays didn’t really go any better but it was still fun. First time shooting a shotgun with gloves on too. A bit awkward shoving a shell into a tube magazine with gloves on.
My first attempt at 5-stand was about the same. I think I hit 4 clays total, and they were all from the same house, which happened to present approximately like a standard trap house (straight away from the stands.) Later attempts at 5-stand proved beyond a doubt that my first performance was not an anomaly.
That’s some hard stuff right there. I tend to enjoy sporting clays, though. I don’t do much better, but at least when I suck really bad I can just move down the road to the next station, instead of embarrassing myself in front of the same 4 guys over and over. :)
